CHEMOTAXIS & TRANSENDOTHELIAL MIGRATION SCREENING ASSAYS

Cell migration is a fundamental function of many cellular processes including immune response and inflammation.  We have significant expertise in the provision of chemotaxis and transendothelial migration assays, which are suitable for inflammation research and development.

INFLAMMATION

Leukocytes normally circulate the body in a resting state until the come into contact with chemicals known as chemoattractants.  They rapidly respond by adhering to and migrating through the endothelial layer in the vasculature towards the site of inflammation.  GlycoMar offers assays which measure chemotaxis and migration of freshly isolated human leukocytes in reponse to chemoattractants such as IL-8. Migration assays utilise a monolayer of primary human endothelial cells (HUVEC) which can be subject to inflammatory activation. The assay is suitable for the evaluation of test agents which may modulate the chemotaxis or migration process.

GlycoMar also have experience of the development of these assay for bespoke applications such as the measurement of cellular adhesion and transendothelial migration that is relavent to cancer metastasis.
